DSIRE Solar Policy Guide: A Resource for State Policymakers

Justin Barnes, Sue Gouchoe, Rusty Haynes, Amy Heinemann (NC Clean Energy Technology Center). September 2012. (96 pp.)
The DSIRE Solar Policy Guide describes policy options adopted by state and local governments to encourage solar deployment, discusses status and trends of individual policy types, provides examples of specific programs, and includes links to additional sources of information. The DSIRE Solar Policy Guide was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy under NREL Subcontract No. XEU-0-99515-01.

This resource was last updated in September of 2012, and will not be updated going forward. Some of the links no longer work, and some of the policy statuses and trends may be outdated. But the general policy descriptions and their importance to solar markets are still relevant today. Refer to the live DSIRE database or contact DSIRE staff if you have specific questions about the policies discussed in the guide.
