The U.S. Department of Energy and the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center are excited to announce that a new, modernized DSIRE is under construction. The new version of DSIRE will offer significant improvements over the current version, including expanded data accessibility and an array of new tools for site users. The new DSIRE site will be available in December 2014. Staff are currently working hard on the new version of DSIRE but are also maintaining the content of the current version of DSIRE. Summary:

Focus on Energy offers a free energy assessment and free or discounted energy savings items to small businesses with a peak monthly electric demand of less than 100 kilowatts. After the initial assessment, businesses can sign up for either the Free Energy Savings Package or the $129 Gold Energy Savings Package.

The Free Energy Savings Package includes:

  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLS) or LED lamps to replace incandescent lights. Maximum of 36 LED lamps and unlimited standard spiral CFL lamps.
  • Unlimited vending machine controllers for cold drink machines
  • Unlimited faucet aerators
  • Unlimited water-saving shower heads
  • One LED "OPEN" sign replacing existing neon sign
  • Hot water pipe wrap

With a $129 customer copayment, the Gold Energy Savings Package includes:

  •  LED exit signs
  • Wall box occupancy sensors
  • LED lamps (maximum of 72)
  • High Performance T8 fixtures

Measures in the Gold Energy Savings Package include all those above plus:

  • Additional LED exit signs and occupancy sensors
  • LED Lamps (148 maximum)
  • LED fixture replacements

Other meaures A La Carte include:

  • 8ft. T12 conversions to more energy efficient fixtures
  • Removal and retrofits to reduce the number of lamps in light fixtures or entire fixtures
  • High bay fixtures, standard T5/T8 and LED
  • High bay fixture occupancy sensors
  • LED cold case lighting (8 doors maximum)
  • Walk-in cooler strip curtains (24ft. maximum)
  • Additional LED and/or High Performance T8 fixtures

In order to participate in the program, interested customers should contact Focus on Energy directly. Please note that customer eligibility for Focus on Energy incentives is based on utility participation; interested individuals and companies should use the eligibility tool on the program web site to determine if their local utility participates in the Focus on Energy program.
