Summary:

Milwaukee Energy Efficiency (Me2) offers four different financing options for businesses to implement energy-efficiency projects into their buildings. Businesses must be located in the City of Milwaukee and must plan to reduce energy consumption by at least 15%. Interested businesses should contact Me2 directly or use the Commercial Project Interest Form located on the program web site.

Financing options include:

Smart Security Financing: This program provides up-front collateral for projects between $10,000 and $1 million. The financial institution that provides the loan receives a deposit from Me2 to fund a reserve to prevent the loan from going into default.
Smart Business Financing: This program allows businesses to finance 100% of project costs between $5,000 and $20,00 through a low-interest loan through Summit Credit Union.
Clean Energy Financing Program: For property owners of rented properties, property owners can finance energy efficiency projects between $20,000 and $5 million and pass savings along to tenants that pay the energy bills.

This program is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Better Buildings Program. The DOE has awarded over $500 million in federal funds to more than 40 states, local governments, and organizations to administer local programs targeting a variety of building types. Combined, these local programs are expected to improve the efficiency of more than 170,000 buildings through 2013 and save up to $65 million in energy costs annually.
