Cowlitz County PUD offers an incentive for their residential customers to improve the weatherization of their homes. The residence must be a site-built, electrically-heated single-family residence, multi-family building, or rental home. However, homes with operable central ducted gas, oil or wood heat system and permanently installed electric heat may qualify under certain conditions.
Homes must have permanently installed electric heat prior to weatherization work and have had an energy audit completed by the PUD. Once eligibility of the residence has been determined and funds are available, homeowners must contact approved contractors from which the homeowner may schedule bid appointments. Once the homeowner has obtained bids, they may call the PUD Conservation Department at (360) 577-7514 to schedule a bid-review appointment. A minimum of two bids are required. A customer service advisor will review the owner's chosen bid to determine the PUD's financial contribution and the owner's exact cost.
