The U.S. Department of Energy and the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center are excited to announce that a new, modernized DSIRE is under construction. The new version of DSIRE will offer significant improvements over the current version, including expanded data accessibility and an array of new tools for site users. The new DSIRE site will be available in December 2014. Staff are currently working hard on the new version of DSIRE but are also maintaining the content of the current version of DSIRE. Thank you for your continued support and patience during this transition. We hope you are as excited for December as we are!

For individuals building a new home, Efficiency Vermont offers free technical assistance and targeted rebates to help ensure that the home is as energy efficient as possible. The first step is to enroll in the Residential New Construction program. After enrollment, Efficiency Vermont will review building plans and go over design to determine estimate energy costs for heating, cooling, hot water, lights and appliances. They will recommend ways to lower those costs and help the homeowner choose proper energy efficient equipment, lights and appliances.

The Residential New Construction Program includes three service tiers that can be achieved by completing various energy efficiency measures. The tiers are: Energy Code Plus (Bronze), Vermont ENERGY STAR Homes (Silver), and High Performance Homes (Gold).

Projects meeting the requirements for any of the three service tiers are eligible for the appliance incentive and the home energy rating index incentive. The appliance incentive provides $200 to those who install two of the following appliances: Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) Tier 2 or 3 refrigerator/clothes washer, or CEE Tier 1 dishwasher. The appliance incentive cannot be combined with other Efficiency Vermont appliance rebates. The home energy rating index incentive provides $75 per Home Energy Rating System (HERS) point below a HERS score of 60 for homes 3,000 sq. ft. or less, and below a HERS score of 55 for homes greater than 3,000 sq. ft.

Projects meeting the High Performance Homes tier requirements are also eligible to receive one free whole-house monitoring system, which uses a web-based interface to monitor energy performance of different components of the home.

Vermont Gas Customers may be eligible for an additional $200 drain water heat recovery rebate, and customers of Washington Electric Cooperative may be eligible for $300 for successful completion of any Residential New Construction service tier and an additional $500 for heat and energy recovery ventilation systems. Customers must contact those utilities directly for availability.
