The U.S. Department of Energy and the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center are excited to announce that a new, modernized DSIRE is under construction. The new version of DSIRE will offer significant improvements over the current version, including expanded data accessibility and an array of new tools for site users. The new DSIRE site will be available in December 2014. Staff are currently working hard on the new version of DSIRE but are also maintaining the content of the current version of DSIRE. Thank you for your continued support and patience during this transition. We hope you are as excited for December as we are!

Eligible Efficiency Technologies: Lighting, Chillers , Heat pumps, Compressed air, Processing and Manufacturing Equipment, Custom/Others pending approval, Commercial Refrigeration Equipment, Food Service Equipment, LED Lighting
Applicable Sectors: Commercial, Industrial

Condensers, compressors, and sub-cooling measures: $25 - $100/horsepower
Display case: $20 - $40/lineal foot
Outdoor air cooling for walk-in coolers: $2/cubic foot per minute


Retrofits from T12 to low-watt T8: $.05 per watt of installed low-watt T8 lighting load
12 fluorescent to hard-wired LED lighting systems: $.60 per watt reduced
Hard-wired systems: 60¢ per watt saved
Screw-in LED lamps: 20¢ per watt saved
Conversions from standard T8 linear fluorescent to low-watt T8 (28- or 25-watt) lamps: 40¢ per watt saved
Screw-in CFL: 10¢ per watt saved
Maximum Incentive:Not to exceed 75 percent of project costs
All lighting rebates over $4,500 must be pre-approved

Otter Tail Power Company Grants for Conservation Program allows its commercial and industrial customers to submit energy-saving proposals and receive grants for their custom efficiency projects.
Possibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Changing the compressed air system  
  • Adding chiller equipment  
  • Adding variable-frequency drives  
  • Making process improvements  
  • Installing heat pumps and MVRs  
  • Improving lighting systems  
  • Improving motors  
  • Improving refrigeration systems
