Summary:
The Ames Electric Department provides free energy audits and multiple energy efficiency rebate programs for its commercial and industrial customers. The rebate programs available are: The Appliance Rebate Program, The Power Factor Correction Rebate Program, and the High Efficiency Lighting Program. All programs require that the customer submit a completed application form within 30 days of equipment installation.
The Appliance Rebate Program offers rebates for the purchase of Energy Star dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators, and freezers. Rebates range from $25-$100, and will not exceed 50% of the equipment cost per unit. In order to qualify for the refrigerator/freezer rebates, customers must show proof of proper disposal of old equipment.
The Power Factor Correction Rebate Program offers a rebate of 50% of the equipment cost of installing power factor correction equipment in industrial facilities. The rebate amount is not to exceed $100 per KVAR and rebates which exceed $15,000 will be examined on a case-by-case basis.
The Commercial High Efficiency Lighting Program offers rebates on a variety of different energy efficient lighting technologies. Rebates vary dramatically by the measure employed, but are limited to 50% of the equipment cost. The maximum annual rebate is $2,000 for general commercial customers and $5,000 for large commercial or industrial customers. Rebates exceeding these amounts may be pre-approved on a case-by-case basis by the utility.
A new commercial custom rebate has also been introduced to Ames Electric Department's group of commercial incentives. Custom measures which reduce customer consumption will be evaluated and compensated based on the KW savings derived from the measures. See The Commercial Custom Rebate Form on website for other details.
