Summary:
Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) offers several rebates to residential customers for energy efficiency improvements. Residential customers can earn a $75 rebate for repairing duct leaks in existing central air conditioning systems. A thorough inspection and repair work must be completed by a KUA Partnering Contractor who is a Florida State certified air conditioning contractor. All work must meet program standards.
Customers may earn a $50 rebate for maintaining an existing central air conditioning system. Maintenance must be performed by an approved participating licensed Heating. Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) contractor. Customers replacing HVAC systems are eligible for a $225 rebate if the new system meets the program's minimum efficiency requirements. A $100 rebate is also available to residential and small business customers for installing insulation. Minimum installation levels required over or under air conditioned space is R-30 in the attic or R-15 under raised flooring according to manufacturer’s recommendations.
Finally, KUA offers incentives to customers to purchase compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs in the form of a voucher or in certain cases, KUA will provide CFLs for free. Residential customers must meet KUA specified deadlines and provide proper proof of purchase and installation in order to qualify for these rebates. Rebates and receipts should be sent KUA's Energy Audit Division, at the address below. Contact KUA's Energy Conservation Customer Services for more information.
